Passionate for Christ

Blog, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

Pastor Issac has been ministering to God for more than 25 years even in every extreme situation of his life. There is not a corner of his village and neighboring villages where he hasn’t reached and shared the Gospel.

Unfortunately, he cannot visit and follow up with the people regularly due to the distance and the difficulty of traveling to some villages. To reach those villages it takes a whole day or sometimes more. During the travel, they pass through dense forests, climb steep mountains, trek along rough routes and desolate mountains. Because they don’t the proper gear to travel with, missionaries like Pastor Issac have encountered severe difficulties that sometimes causes long-term sickness.

Still, they will not stop sharing the Gospel. They say, ‘God’s kingdom is near and we still have so much more to do.’

Dear partners, this is the reason for my motivation as I mentioned in the introduction.

My heart becomes overwhelmed by the hardship of these faithful men and women of God. Thank you, partners, for loving my people and helping them to remain passionate about extending the kingdom of God. Because of your generosity, we were successful in distributing 28 travel kits to missionaries. Knowing someone cares enough about them to give these gifts encourages them to be even more faithful and hopeful in Christ. Thank you, partners, this is a big reason we appreciate and are grateful to God for letting us do the honor of distributing these travel kits.

Impacting Lives

Blog, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

I believe that men find reasons to live the way they do. The people of the Himalayas have been my passion, what has influenced me, and my reason for ministering to God in all the circumstances of my life. And I feel humbled that RHMI is filled with wonderful men and women of God – in fact, my true companions.

Every single time as I praise the hardship of our incredible native missionaries of the Himalayas, I come to remember Matthew 5:10 that states, ‘Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’

They are the real blessed people crying out the greatest and powerful name above all other names and seeking the joy of the kingdom of Heaven.

These people are the reason for my motivation. Dear partners, I appreciate your love and affection towards my people and caring about them. Thank you very much for your generosity and understanding of their grief.

I speak Proverbs 11:25 over you and your kindness. May the following report bring to you joy and delight in knowing the outcome of your faithful investment.

Sometime later, RHMI was able to establish a new sewing center in her place, it brought Kumari and the other women in similar situations to tears. Kumari said, “Pastor Haron, it is a direct call from my Jesus. He has bestowed His love over my situation and has not forsaken me just as He has promised in the Bible. As I care for my 3 children, He has cared for me. I don’t know how I will be able to repay you for the help you have provided me, pastor. How great those hearts are who helped us with these wonderful gifts. May God bless them. Now, I can be self-sufficient and provide for my children. My bad days have gone. Thank you, pastor.”

RHMI believes that this ministry which is impacting a huge community with a very small effort of kindness shouldn’t be stopped or paused. So many hopeless and anxious sisters in the Himalayas have found hope, peace, and salvation through our sewing ministry.

Thank you for your partnership.

Wishing you a blessed Easter Sunday

Blog, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

Wow! Our Salvation Day is coming near. I’m so excited!

I can’t wait to rejoice and share happiness with my people, glorifying Jesus and thanking Him for His sacrifice. Unfortunately, there are so many who still have not heard the name of Jesus. Easter is a strange and unknown matter for them. My heart is so heavy with sadness for them.

Many people in the Himalayas are still living their life in terror and darkness. The repeated practices of self-mutilation, self-torturing, shamanism, and superstitions hurts the heart of Jesus every time they commit them. He says, “I died for you so you would not have to do this.” These people desperately need to hear that they do not have to live in grief, fear, and constant turmoil. Their salvation is only in Jesus, and He has already redeemed every one of them. They only need to believe in Him. They only need to hear.

The good news is we can make a big difference with simple yet powerful strategies. Here are some of the ways how you can help transform many lives and impact a huge community in the Himalayas.

Native missionary Support

How about hitting two targets with one arrow? Regular native missionary monthly support of $50-$100 helps them to provide for their families. By lessening the burden of supporting family, our well-trained and spiritually equipped missionaries are free to focus on staying passionate for Jesus as they work to bring hundreds to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through sharing the Gospel and regular outreaches.

Children Support

Small yet effective support of $25 monthly to native children for their education can assure their hope of a better tomorrow and bright future. It can fulfill their desires of gaining education, help erase the difficulties of poverty and build well-educated missionaries with the love of Jesus Christ.

Clean water wells

A gift of $1500 for a clean water well not only becomes a focal point for many to get fresh water but also will provide an invitation to the only way, truth, and life; that is Jesus Christ. The scripture engraved on the slate plaque above the tap stirs curiosity in many which leads to open questions and Gospel sharing opportunities.

Sewing Machine

A gift of $160 for a sewing machine help can make vulnerable and needy women self-sufficient. Being able to earn a living making and repairing clothes keeps them from getting caught up sex trafficking. RHMI sewing centers are a friendly place for them to share companions, erase their loneliness, minimize their personal grief, and learn more about Christ all while learning to sew.

Small Gift but Huge impact

Blog, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

Mahendra Tharu is a 50-year-old man who is physically unable to travel as he used to do in his younger years. However, he is so committed to God that even today he still travels to distant places for sharing the Gospel, helping church members in emergencies, and other ministerial activities. There are many other obedient men of God like Mahendra who know only to give but never to ask. Last time on our visit, our tears rolled down as we saw some of their worn-out shoes and roughly stitched jackets. Our prayers started right then.

We are so blessed by generous partners like you, that God mobilized us through you, to express His love for them. How wonderful it is. We are glad to let you know that we distributed not just one or two but 17 travel kits to those beloved native mission field leaders. They were very excited to receive such gifts.

Many of them immediately took off their jackets and put on the new ones. Some of them hugged the shoes and tried them on instantly.

As Mahendra received one of those travel kits, he said something that caught our attention. He uttered, “Pastor Haron, my clothes have definitely worn out but my heart for Christ has never worn out. I understand the cost that my Christ paid for my sin. Sometimes, as I walk miles with bare feet, I would remember the nailed feet of Christ and thank Him for my situation. I would look at my worn-out jacket and feel embarrassed to meet new people, but my renewed spirit within me and my thirst for more of Christ would keep me going.

I have always known my Father cares for me. Pastor Haron, I am going to take these back home and have all my family kneel down, stretch hands over these gifts, and thank God for the generous person who understood the message of God on my behalf.

Whoever supported me with these gifts must have known the situation I have been through. That person is a great and true man or woman of God. May God bless him or her.”

How touching it was.

We have no words other than to thank you partners for your love and humble concern. Your prosperity and success in every endeavor are always on our prime prayer lists. May God bless you forever.

I will utilize it faithfully

Blog

Once again, all the praises and gratefulness to the Lord who led us to far-West Nepal to distribute 12 bicycles to our mission field leaders. Because the terrain of far-West Nepal is relatively flat, bicycles are easy to use for transportation and safe to ride. It is a great asset for our mission field leaders to travel both short and long distances for Gospel sharing, visiting believer’s house, doing follow up, attending emergency calls, running house fellowships, and many more things.

We were so blessed to hear Ps. R telling us, “Glory to the Lord, pastor Haron, for I was praying for this bicycle for more than 3 years. Being able to afford food for my family has always been my first priority. Hence, affording a bicycle is beyond my imagination. It was like reaching a star in the sky for me.

Despite many problems, I didn’t pause a day to preach about God and evangelize many people in the most unreached places. I had to travel miles on dusty roads. Many times, I felt sick due to physical exhaustion and heat stroke. My wife and I prayed for something I could use to travel with. We wrote ‘one cycle’ on a piece of paper and stuck it on our wall. For more than 3 years we continuously prayed for it, stretching our hands over the text. 3 years is a long time, but we always had a belief that our God is bigger than anything.

Today, this surprise gift from God has made me cry and added more trust in the Lord. I will double my effort to serve God through this gift. I will utilize it faithfully. Thank you, pastor Haron.”

I must thank, you, partners, for your love and tremendous support to our mission field. I truly appreciate it.

Junction for Christ

Blog, COVID-19, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.~ Psalm 32:8

This profound statement of God keeps me alive. It’s not me or my self-desire but God’s calling that prompts me to go where He wants me to work on His behalf. And I worry for nothing because He is my shepherd and my provider.

Dear partners,

sometimes I struggle to find words to describe the mightiness of our God. The way He is leading RHMI is indescribable and beyond my imagination. His mighty plans of showing love and concern to His people are just incredible. We, the RHMI team, are happy and satisfied to enjoy being His ambassadors and channels of His blessings to the people of the Himalayas.

We believe God blesses us so we can pass those blessing on to others. Thank you, partners, for being faithful to God’s calling. We appreciate your kindness, generosity, and love over our land.

I want to let you know the astounding success we have achieved these past few months, through the following report. I must say, without your generous support, these blessings to others would not have been possible.

May God bless you abundantly!

Junction for Christ

Out of many ministerial tasks we have done so far, sewing machine support to the needy women of far-west Nepal has always had a major impact on lives. Especially with girls at risk of sex-trafficking and of domestic violence. Many times, learning to sew and the use of a sewing machine has boosted the confidence of many highly vulnerable women; the confidence of being financially independent.

Ms. Sita Rana, with tearful eyes, looked at us and said, “I trust God and His presence. He does exist for He has answered my prayers and blessed me. After my husband left me, I was completely alone and hopeless to further my life but the sewing center has not only given me hope but offered me a meeting place where I can meet my church sisters often. Now, I can expand my Christian friends circle, learn more about God, and provide for my children by myself.”

Dear partners, as you can see, sewing centers have not only supported this sister to become independent financially but have supported many women from socio-economic and social perspectives. Yes, we are making a big impact and are transforming lives in Christ. Praise the Lord. Thank you for your partnership.

Special Report from the Mission Field

Blog, COVID-19, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and worthiest of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. ~ Psalm 145:2-4

Our God is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent. Not only are His characteristics a fact but they are also my belief and my declaration. I know that God is powerful, present everywhere, and knows everything.

I am so thankful to God for He has always blessed RHMI with abundant love and gracious partners. Our prayers, hardship, and faith in Him haven’t gone empty but have resulted in a glorious legacy for many generations to come. I can surely declare that the people of the Himalayas have been blessed through RHMI.

Through these newsletters, you have been able to journey with us on this mission to the high Himalayas. We thank God for His unbelievable presence and testimonies of blessings. I am quite sure that when you read this newsletter, you will be blessed to see firsthand the daily life of the people of the Himalayas and see God working through the lives of our missionaries.

Dear Partners, I feel humbled to thank you for always being there with us.

Timely Gifts Are the Valuable Gifts

The daily life of Himalayan people in the winter season is unimaginable. Life in the Himalayas is hard and dangerous. Anyone who visits the place thinks “How is life even possible here?” Cold weather, poverty, and the lack of proper warm clothes are an important reason for much illness and premature deaths in the Himalayas. Towards this end, our team was able to provide 40 down jackets to children, and 30 woolen caps to elderly people as a timely gift.

Dear partners, they have asked us to thank you for your gift that was so timely, for all of your support, and most of all, for showing that you care about them. What a wonderful joy it is to become a channel of blessings to these beloved people of God.

Fellowship Cannot Be Denied

The pandemic situation that grips Nepal right now is causing many people to be in despair and hopelessness. But despite such adversity, our believers did not pause a second to decide whether to have a church conference or not. Practically, it may sound unwise but praising Jesus who has awarded us with eternal salvation, protection, and provision was their primary matter of concern that took precedence over fear and uncertainty. We were very happy to be part of this conference where many lives were transformed. The celebration was huge. Singing, dancing, praising, worshipping, feasting, and much more were the beautiful parts of the conference that we not only captured in pictures but also in our hearts.

As we were enjoying ourselves with them, we realized that these people are the blessed ones from who we were to receive abundant blessings. We were not blessing them near as much as they were the source of blessings for us.

Dear partners, the joy and happiness we experienced are a precious treasure that you and I, and the whole RHMI family have earned for the eternal kingdom of Heaven. We are blessed!

Native Missionary Travel Kits

Apart from gifts to children and elderly people, we enjoyed distributing jackets, sleeping bags, trekking backpacks, boots, and socks to 7 native missionary leaders. These kits will help them to travel to distant places with safety and comfort. Amid any harsh situation, they can take the Gospels to the most unreached places with much comfort. When they are equipped to handle the environment, they do not worry about where they will stay or the difficulties while walking.

Most of the time, when they had to walk miles, their shoes were worn out. Their shoes were not special hiking boots because they are not able to afford such expensive boots. They had to struggle with their uncomfortable and compact backpacks with little space. When traveling through dense and frigid woods, they always had concern about how their outfits would hold up.

However, now, due to those valuable gifts, they can do the ministry with physical comfort and security. Thank you partners for caring for our leaders for what they are doing with humility and faithfulness.

Electronic Teachings and Songs

We also received the privilege of distributing a mini speaker with more than 200 recorded powerful messages of God placed in a mini SD card to 10 of our mission field leaders. These messages are a real blessing to the most underprivileged and destitute of the Himalayas. The messages keep them motivated and fill them with the fire of the Holy Spirit all the time. They use the powerful teachings to share the Gospel and bring many lives to Christ. At the same time, they are able to use the teachings for sermons in the church services and house churches services.

Those teachings, with spiritual and practical content inter-mixed with heart-touching hymns, lift them up them and give them the strength to tackle the different harsh situations they face in the Himalayas. Those messages and songs are welcome companions to our leaders in their travels too.

How great those gracious hearts and generous hands are who have enabled us to share these electronic teachings and songs.

Dear partners, thank you very much for partnering with us with such incredible support.

On-The Ground Mission

Blog, COVID-19, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

As Colossians 3:17 reminds us, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Dear partners, we want to share with you that 2021: the Year of Maturity is teaching us about thankfulness. Thankfulness in everything comes through practicing being thankful to God for His presence, peace, faithfulness, comfort, and grace when facing challenges, rather than letting the difficulties be the focus of our thoughts, words, and prayers.

We bestow our heartfelt thanks, appreciation, and gratefulness for your commitment, generosity, and determination to help our beloved brothers and sisters in the Himalayas.

We prayer for abundant blessing over you as you go through the following report where we have put all the wonderful outcomes of your generous giving. May God bless you.

Jacket and woolen caps distribution

Warm clothes in such a cold place are always in demand. Many are living in poverty in this place. We thank our beloved father and our gracious partners, for providing 71 warm woolen caps for the elderly people and 100 warm jackets to our beautiful children. We find ourselves blessed to provide these clothes to such needy ones. Their tearful eyes and heartfelt thanks made us feel even more blessed. Hallelujah!

Native missionary travel kits

Also, sincere thanks and gratitude to our generous partners for providing a jacket, sleeping bag, trekking bag, shoes, and socks to 11 of our diligent native mission field leaders, mini Radio speakers where we place a mini SD card with 214 recorded powerful scriptures of God and also children stationaries. Dear partners, we want to let you know that they are very happy and have asked us to tell you ‘thank you.’ They wanted you to know that your safety, welfare, prosperity, and success in all your doings are part of their regular prayers.

Dear partners, believers of the Himalayas are praying for you 24/7. Expect success in your ministry, businesses and families from their prayers.

With all my gratitude,

RHMI Family.

The Wake-Up call

Blog, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

As we are proceeding with the brand-new Year of Maturity in the presence of Jesus’ sovereignty, 2021 has a lot to offer this year. We feel humbled to praise God for His mighty provision and providence in every circumstance of 2020.

Also, as we continue with the praise reports of the mission trip in Dec 2020, we express our heartfelt gratitude to all our dearest partners who have been incredible with your support. We pray for abundant blessings over you, your family, and your ministry as you will come to know the great impacts of your generosities on the welfare of the native brothers and sisters of the hidden Himalayas.

Thank you very much for being with us and loving our land.

Next morning in Yak shed

After spending overnight in the Yak shed, the next morning we marched towards another destination after having a good breakfast. The night in the Yak shed cannot be simply explained in words. We were shivering all night in the Yak shed. The cool breeze blowing up the mountain was hitting our shed all night. In addition to that, the thin air made it extremely difficult to get our breath. We were very glad when dawn came the next morning. All thanks to the Lord for the Yak shed. In spite of its drawbacks, we did not have to spend the night outside. And none of us suffered high altitude sickness at night. Praise the Lord for we were all safe overnight.

Walking with porters

We were so thankful to God for He gave us the wisdom to call our brothers to come to carry our baggage. We are so thankful to them too for they were very welcoming and eager to help with such a large quantity of goods. As they were locals from that area, they arrived quickly and were very willing to help us carry our stuff. As we went along, they were carefully watching out for us, sharing the stories of the place, guiding us, always asking about our health, and inspiring us to walk one more step. It was such a privilege to follow them, chat with them, and reach the destination before we even realized we were there.

Cross

The trek was definitely not an easy act. Several guys in our group did not have any experience hiking at high altitudes, we were concerned for their health. At such altitudes, one can suffer from severe sickness and even die. But as we had hundreds of prayer warriors praying for our safety 24/7, we felt secure in God’s protection the whole time. On our way, we passed by a giant cross placed on the top of the mountain by local believers. they placed it there with a purpose. The cross indeed symbolizes the salvation of the nation from the earthly deities and gods. Today, that cross has stood firm and strong like a lighthouse to those in the Himalayas, which were named after earthly gods. Praise the Lord for the place has bowed down before the God of gods; the name above all other names.

Tent/ firecamp/worship

After hours of hiking, we finally reached an open space amid the dense forest, where we decided to stay overnight. As we were so exhausted, we chose to not go any further. We put up our tents and started cooking dinner for ourselves. It was a fresh experience for most of us. Cooking food over the fire, collecting wood, washing dishes in the freezing ice-water, sleeping in the tents amid the dense, dark forest, worshipping like never before, singing hymns with the highest notes, and more, was a most unforgettable moment for us. The best part of this destination was the praise and worship, where we thanked God for all the changing plans and His wonders. We sang Christmas songs so loudly that the whole forest was echoing. Every one of us got lost in the worship so deeply that we didn’t notice that the sun had already set.

The food was also very delicious that evening but it did not totally agree with Ps. Haron who suffered from intense stomach distress. But thanks be to the Lord when he took some medicine and the men all prayed for him, he recovered.

Even though our plans did not go quite as we had expected, we personally believe this sort of outing and time of fellowship that brings closeness and unity, gives new experiences and builds productivity is a must, in any sector, whether it is an organization, office, ministry, or institution.

Dear partner, we are glad to have you along with us on this mission trip. We have tried to describe our exciting, thrilling, and breathtaking journey and let you feel just how dangerous it was, yet, at the same time, how joyful and exhilarating it was. We want to let you know, it would have never happened without your constant prayer and generous support. Thank you very much from the inner core of our hearts.
There’s more to share with you as we reach our destination and experience a great move of God in the next newsletter. Until then, please keep praying for us. And please remember our native pastors all across the Himalayas who experience similar situations and experiences and sometimes even more harrowing ones as they take the Gospel to even more remote unreached people.
With all my gratitude,
RHMI Family.

The Wake-Up call

Blog, It Is Happening, Mission Trip, Outreach

Dear Partners in the Gospel,

Greetings to you from the Himalayas!

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

From land, food, and shelter to a righteous path of salvation, God provides for those who follow His commandments. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

The mission trip of Dec 2020 is our most unforgettable trip of the year. The passion of reaching the most unreached lives of the hidden mountains is the reason that awakens us every moment. By the Grace of God and His guidance, our ministry is bringing about impactful transformations in native people’s lives and communities. We are grateful to God for His provision, love, and support. We feel honored to be a channel of blessings between our native people and our generous partners.

We want to let you know how your generosities are transforming the Himalayas. Our desire is that these reports will bless and inspire you as we take you along with us on our mission trip to the Himalayas. Be assured that, welfare, prosperity, and blessings over you, your family, and your ministry are always part of our regular prayer.

Ice-breaking

To most of us on the RHMI team, this was our first-ever experience to break the ice on a road. To the inhabitants of the capital city of Kathmandu, such situations are rare. No sooner had we started our journey, within the next 20 minutes we encountered thick ice that obstructed our way. Our jeep could not get any traction on the ice that had formed during the previous night. We had no other options but to try to break it up. Fortunately, as we were aware this could happen, we had a digging bar, pickaxe, and spade. It was such a disappointing situation for us. For the whole day, we tried our best to clear the road even by pouring table salt to melt the ice, but it didn’t help. We were already losing our energy and started feeling dehydrated. Our vehicle finally got stuck in an icy pit.

The phone call in mountain

We could not get the jeep out, so we decided to call another vehicle from the mission field we were going to. We returned to the valley walking another 2 hours and climbing 1 hour to another mountain-top before we finally got a cell phone network. After contacting several possibilities that were not able to help, we had no option other than to carry our luggage and walk. Half of our team were waiting in the spot where our luggage was unloaded. Since it was impossible to travel on the icy road, we decided to take our vehicle back and park it at the inn until our return.

Walking

As our plans were changed, we decided to continue on. We carried all our belongings and started hiking on that difficult road in the dark twilight. Some of our team had had no experience in hiking in the steep mountains and were unable to carry such big loads as we had. By this time everyone had lost their energy while breaking the ice and it was very difficult for some of us due to fatigue.

So, we rested for a while and ate our travel food, which provided us energy to continue our journey.

Yakshed

After walking for many hours, with very dim lights, we decided to stay in a cowshed on our way. But it wasn’t easy to reach there either. We had to climb down through steep mountains into a valley. That evening was a real concern for me because some of the team were not even in a condition to move on. One of our team also suffered hypothermia. Finally, when we reached the Yakshed, we prayed for him, worshipped God, thanked Him for His providence, ate delicious food, and then slept. Praises to the Lord for everything.

Praises to the Lord for everything.” “In the morning we were all refreshed by the sleep and we all came our of that shed smelling like Yaks.” All praises and glory to God, for He kept His hand of protection over us through the freezing, desolate mountains at nearly 6000 m altitudes.

The journey was not easy at all. The lack of an adequate amount of oxygen in the thin air was making it much more difficult to walk. Nevertheless, the passion and trust in the Lord were energizing us as we went. It was the moment where God whispered to me, “This year is the Year of Maturity.”

His clear voice made me continue with confidence with my brave team. Thank you, partners, for your incredible prayer and sacrificial support, without which we would never make it possible. May God bless you.

In the next report, we will continue our journey from the cowshed to remote villages high in the Himalayas.

With all my gratitude,

Pastor Haron and the entire RHMI families.
