Struggle For Reward

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

This month’s mission trip has been memorable once again. I am finding difficulty in compiling the experiences through words. The feeling is beyond expressible words. The hardest part was the weather. With the start of the monsoon in Nepal, floods and landslides are more likely to occur. The volume of water has risen in the river. The bridges are dangerous, and the paths are slippery. There are leeches and mosquitoes everywhere. Nepal is facing a severe dengue outbreak due to the rise in mosquitoes.

Dengue is endemic in Nepal. The country is experiencing a surge in cases that started in the week commencing 8 August. Between January and 28 September 2022, 109 confirmed and suspected dengue cases and 38 confirmed deaths, affecting all seven provinces.

Despite the severity, we managed to reach our mission fields and accomplish our projects. The physical risks were parallel to our mission. However, our spirit did not fall. We fixed our eyes on Jesus and were determined to reach out to our people with His unconditional and powerful love. We hiked day and night to reach our destinations and share fellowships among our awaiting people. Because of a broken bridge, we had to cross a vast, flooded river. It was terrifying. We questioned whether we would make it or not. But as Psalms 91 says – ‘For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways,’ He had His hands covering us the whole time.

Dear partners, thank you very much for your moral support and continued prayer for our safety. They are the most valuable assets for our victory. We are making it. The face of the Himalayas is changing. Our companionship has resulted in the remarkable transformation of impoverished villages and underprivileged tribes. As compared to what we are accomplishing, our physical hardships are nothing. Despite our difficulties, we enjoy every moment of our missions because we know we’ll be rewarded soon.

Happy to minister with you! Thank you very much for your partnership.
