In this time of fear, uncertainty and isolation, we can turn to two verses in God’s Word that will show us that no matter what the circumstances or situations we are going through right now, God is there.
Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
He rejoices over us with gladness. You make Him happy! He calms us with His love. We can feel safe and secure knowing He is always with us. He sings over us in delight. So, when He sings over us, what are the songs that He sings? Look at Psalms 32:6 for the answer.
Psalms 32:6 You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.
Hiding in the Lord, protected from trouble, and surrounded by songs of deliverance. Let the full weight of that verse sink into your heart. That is powerful!
When I think of God rejoicing over me with singing and surrounding me with His songs of deliverance, I have this mental picture of God sitting on His throne, leaning forward slightly and looking down to see me here on earth singing to me. And I hear those songs in my heart and I can feel His love and I am quieted, I am calmed, and I am reassured.
When I think of those songs of deliverance, I think of how God speaks. Go all the way back to the first chapter of Genesis as God was creating the heavens and the earth and everything in them. How did He do it? He spoke and it came into being. What was not, was, because He spoke it!
Think of Abraham as an old man with a barren wife. Yet God told him he would be the father of many nations. And he became the father of many nations.
Think of Joseph standing on the auction block. He was being sold as a slave, but God said he was a successful man. And he was a successful man. He became the ruler under Pharaoh over all of Egypt.
Think of Gideon. He was a fearful man, hiding in a winepress when God called him a mighty man of valor. And he became a mighty man of valor and lead all of Israel to defeat the Midianites.
So, when God sings songs of deliverance over us, He is singing victory into our hearts. He is singing about deliverance that has already happened because when He speaks, things that were not come into being. So, listen within you for that still, small voice singing songs of deliverance. Remember they are surrounding you, protecting you, and demonstrating His love for you.
