Second Life in Jesus

Blog, It Is Happening, Outreach

Pastor P who had a stroke due to high blood pressure and a hemorrhage a few months ago is healed and enjoying his second life. He conveys his heartfelt regards and appreciation for all prayers and sacrificial supporters of RHMI.

Despite many medical complications, today he has won over his sickness.

However, half of his body is still paralyzed, and he struggles in getting up and doing normal activities.

It is a glory to God that, to every relative near or far who comes to visit him, He always shares his testimony and encourages them to accept Jesus. Despite before, walking miles to share the Gospel, he has turned his house into a Gospel sharing center. Many lives continue to be affected by his heart-touching testimony. Many accepted Jesus instantly and committed to remain in His faith forever.

The most surprising thing is that he was a pastor of a local church having 70-75 believers, but today after witnessing his testimony and sharing Jesus, the new believers in that place have exceeded more than 300. Hallelujah!

God is on the move amid lockdown!

He was excited and worried at the same time. He immediately called us and asked when we were visiting him to look after the flocks and advise him in taking care of them. He also requested us that the old church building is insufficient to hold such a huge number of believers so, the place needs a new church building. Kindly pray for this blissful reason.

Due to the pandemic lockdown and many consequences, people have become hungrier and thirstier to find eternal love, hope, and life in Jesus. We praise God for using Pastor P to manifest His greatness in such an impossible time.

However, regarding his physical and medical condition, he needs to visit the hospital for his regular medical checkup and therapies that adds more expenses to his previous dues at the Hospital. He still requires $1300 to clear his dues.

Kindly remember him in your regular devotion as he is one of our most active native missionaries in the Himalayas ministering among hundreds of believers.

We are also thankful towards our mission field coordinator Pastor A. for his perseverance, and regular follow-up of most of the mission field leaders and believers.

Thank you!

Salvation from Generational Curses

Blog, It Is Happening, Outreach

The harsh life in the Himalayas is beyond imagination. For ages, the Himalayan regions are badly affected by many demonic spirits and the devil’s clutches. The many mountains named after earthly gods can be one of its reasons. The lack of developmental infrastructures is a physical necessity that can be, but the spiritual attacks, persecutions, and rampage are destructible.

Pastor B comes from a steadfast Hindu background who struggled years with spiritual attacks on his family. For four generations, his forefathers were struggling with a curse of Epilepsy. Every elder son from his forefather’s generation was struggling with the disorder. They underwent many shamanism treatments and lost wealth, lands, and livestock in it. But they couldn’t receive salvation.

Pastor B was the fourth generation of his tribe facing the same issues. He had nothing to offer since he was out of everything. Later, he met our mission field leaders who were evangelizing and sharing the Gospel in his village.

As Pastor B heard that salvation is possible in Jesus, without any further dilemma he immediately called our mission field leaders in his home and requested them to share more about Jesus and pray for him.

After continuous follow up in his house, sharing the Gospels and more from the Bible, Pastor B started getting healed and he started going to church regularly.

He was touched by two different scriptures that talk about generational curses in Exodus 34:7 and salvation in Jesus Christ in 1 John 5:12.

Today, the generational curses have gotten completely removed from his generation because his whole family members have accepted Jesus and they are one of the most loyal believers of our RHMI family. After years of devotion and perseverance in the church, he has become the pastor of his church, leading hundreds of believers as being part of our RHMI family.

Pastor B is also an influential leader who has informed many believers about generational curses, its consequences, and solutions. He is a down to earth man, very humble, and loyal. He has served God in his most hard times, having nothing to eat and feed his children, but traveled miles to preach and share the Gospel. He says, “no turning back because I’ve decided to follow Jesus and I don’t want the repetition of generational curses to follow my generation.”

Dear partners, because of your generosities, our beloved field leaders like Pastor B have served Jesus through many ministerial services, regardless of any difficulties, time, and weather, without any anxieties and fears.

Still, kindly remember him in your prayers.

COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Blog, COVID-19, Disaster Relief, It Is Happening

We thank our mighty Father in Heaven and all our gracious partners who have extended their generous hearts to support our grieving families affected by devastating floods in the remote villages located in the Nepal-China border.

The incessant rainfall caused inundation which has affected hundreds of households; 220 people have lost their lives, another 82 are missing in this village. According to the August 21, 2020, official Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) situation report, 18,505 families (92,363 people) have been affected in various districts and 10,256 families (46,562 people) have been displaced all over Nepal.

Due to the unceasing heavy rainfall, a disastrous landslide had swept away some of our mission field leaders’ houses, livestock, and farms resulting in massive loss. Currently, they are sharing shelters and living in temporary shelters built with leaves and straws.

One of our mission field believers, states, “In the middle of the night as it was happening, first, I didn’t believe my eyes. I felt like I was sleeping, and someone was dragging me and my bed. Later, As I realized my house’s roof was gone, I looked up at the mountain back of my house and I saw that it was sliding down towards me. People were screaming and the sky was thundering and echoing through the hills. As the water began to rise above my legs, I realized everything was for real. Then, I screamed and immediately asked for God’s presence. Later, I called out my family members’ names and started searching for them. I felt like it was the second coming of Jesus.”

We are grateful to our Lord for all the partners who have provided urgent food relief of 30kg sacks of rice to 112 families in the remote villages of the Himalayas. We also deposited some allocated funds for future emergencies in the Village Development Committee’s treasury. Also, we handed over $50 to nine different families who have completely lost everything and are now struggling to survive.

As Nepal is still under strict lockdown and proper social distancing, our RHMI team provided food relief four times consecutively to a group of 25 people.

Due to the distribution of the food relief program, many non-believers have restored their faith in the goodness of the believers which has marked a great impact on Christians in the villages. In places, the local government authorities have personally thanked and appreciated our humanitarian support and concern to the villagers.

Travel to the devastated place near the border which is not connected by proper roads, required 17 hours of continuous walking and by motorbikes when possible. Due to incessant rainfall, the roads continued to remain highly damaged and extremely hard to access. Several times as our RHMI team was traveling to the place, they fell off their motorbikes due to terribly rough roads or trails, encountered landslides, hit by stones falling from above their heads, and pushed each other’s motorbikes as they struggled to get out of the mud. Due to extreme difficulty in driving they had to park the motorbikes at one of our believer’s houses and walk to the bordering place. Finally, after risking their lives during their travel they managed to reach the remote village. We are so grateful and appreciate their perseverance and dedication.

Since hilly regions are more likely to have major destruction by annual heavy rainfall, our beloved RHMI family members are serving the Lord in dangerous places. We are concerned about hundreds of those unsaved lives who have yet to hear the Gospel. We have much concern for those small children who must raise cattle and graze livestock in the steep mountains in such harsh conditions.

Presently, they are without any roof over their heads or proper shelter. The government has committed to providing but still has not managed to provide enough provisions to the people in that high place near the border. We do what we can to help our people.

RHMI is praying for help for building a proper shelter for 9 bereaved families.

A massive landslide in Sankhuwasabha had partially dammed the Arun River, leaving downstream settlements at risk of flooding including our mission field.

The dam caused by the landslide was 16 – 33 feet high and 131 feet wide. The river dangerously started eroding the dam about 1,950 feet above the riverbank. The landslide swept away many houses, livestock, and farmland.

Due to inaccessible roads in this area, many families cannot get immediate relief. Hunger pains affect the stomachs of little children as they cry for food.

Nine bereaved families are in urgent need of shelter. Currently, they are sharing their temporary shelters built with straw and bamboo leaves which itself is at high risk.

It is common for shelters in this area to be built with bamboo, local timbers, straw, and if possible, an aluminum metal roof that costs about $1700 including transportation costs.

…No turning Back

Blog, It Is Happening

Once people find their peace and freedom in Jesus, there is no turning back…!

One of the beautiful couples of the remote Himalayas embraces such a touching life story that brings tears to many eyes.

In the context of Nepal’s poor situation, when the burden of the family debts becomes overwhelming, then a man has no option other than to go abroad for employment purposes to support his family. A young man full of energy and confidence went to India with the dream of earning good wages and clearing his debt quickly. But unfortunately, he became very sick; he developed severe back pain which wasn’t getting cured even after several expensive medications.

His wife accepted Jesus in her husband’s absence and was exiled out of her husband’s family’s house and was taking refuge in the local church.

Later, with an empty hand, as her husband returned to Nepal and knew everything, he immediately went to the church to meet his wife. As he convinced her to return home, his father and mother refused to accept her back.

Then, they both started living in the church. After a time, he got completely healed due to continuous prayer and the church’s support. He accepted Jesus and both started serving the church in its different services for 6 months. Ultimately, the church decided to provide them free sewing training which was happening in the church through RHMI. They both took the training for a few months. They were so excited, energetic, very smart, and learned quickly.

Later, at the request of the senior mission field leader, our RHMI team supported them with opening a new shop of their own.

Today they have not just cleared their debts through the shop but, also, they have been blessed so much that they allocated tithes every month. They are looking after their three children’s school fees, sharing the Gospel to many visitors and customers, and leading many to the church.

Amid the current ongoing lockdown where there are scarcities everywhere and no jobs, they are receiving frequent customers and earning very well.

They convey a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to every member of RHMI for your prayers and support.

Dear partners, your generosity and sacrificial support have literally helped light a fire in many kitchens, saved many from depression and unpleasant incidents, brought hope in many darkened lives, and most importantly gave a positive direction in leading lives through Jesus into salvation.
